Ok so this is amazing. Jim used my name for a character in the episode of Heroes he wrote. Well, the actor who played “me” sent out a postcard to all his friends and family, and somehow one ended up at the offices of a show I used to write for. My friend there sent me this picture.
hahahaha AMAZING! oh man, i’m so excited for this episode. will there be a viewing party??
last night my little brother and i ventured to the M Park 4 theater to go see the terribly awesome 2012. the movie was what you’d expect: world destruction and overall good timery. but the M Park 4, the M Park 4 was amazing!
what is the M Park 4 you ask? only the craziest little korean movie theater ever. first: it’s situated in a totally anonymous galleria/office building on wilshire. once inside the anonymous building you have to follow a labryinth of signs leading you to an elevator. from there you venture to the 3rd floor (right below a chiropractic clinic of course) where you discover the glory that is the M Park.
In the lobby they still have cardboard cut outs for don’t mess with zohan, as well as a slew of other crazy looking korean movies. and at the concession stand you can buy banana flavored chips or what appeared to be some sort of freeze dried chunk of fish.
the theater is filled exclusively with koreans who love the loud korean commercials that are played before the coming attractions. and the theaters ushers are adorable old korean men who open and close a curtain for the screening room at the beginning and end of the movies.
it was amazing! you should go soon. i mean just check out this website.
the only thing to take into consideration: make sure you don’t go see a movie that’s too subtitle heavy. because at the M Park all movies are subtitled in Korean (naturally). so if they’re not speaking english in some of the scenes, you’re going to be totally lost, unless of course you read korean.
this past summer, we opened a korean vampire movie titled thirst at the m park 4. we even had the director come in for a q&a. when i went to the theatre to set up, i was taken aback by that zohan standee. there was also a gigantic indiana jones and the crystal skull standee. and those concessions…they had some kind of squid chips or SOMETHING. i was too scared to ask. talk about another world. however, management was very nice and they took extra special care of us. i have yet to see an actual movie there; bravo to you for checking out 2012 at the good ol’ m park!
From the New York Times:
These aren’t the 10 most-recorded shows, per se, but the 10 shows whose ratings have benefited most from time-shifted viewings. The shows, and the percentage increases that their ratings have enjoyed from time-shifting, are:
1. “Battlestar Galactica” (59.4)
2. “Mad Men” (57.7)
3. “Damages” (56.3)
4. “Rescue Me” (53.2)
5.(tie) “True Blood” (46.9)
5.(tie) “Stargate Universe” (46.9)
7.(tie) “Sanctuary” (45.9)
7.(tie) “Heroes” (45.9)
9. “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” (45.5)
10.(tie) “10 Things I Hate About You” (44.9)
10.(tie) “Dollhouse” (44.9)
10.(tie) “Melrose Place” (44.9)
I watch Battlestar, Mad Men, Heroes and Dollhouse on DVR; so you’re welcome guys!
merry christmas from guitar hero. this video is awesome; i wonder how long it took ric turner to accomplish this….very impressive stuff.
this is a pretty cool idea. you’ve driven to hollywood from the westside for a party (or anywhere in LA, really). crap, you got wasted and it’s WAY too expensive to get a cab. what to do? call y drive la, a new service that sends someone to drive you AND your car home. the price isn’t too bad, either; around 38-45 bux! much better than having to go back to your car in the am. how does the chauffeur get home? he’s packed a small scooter into your trunk/back seat so he can get to his next customer. crazy , right?!

i can’t wait to try this. learn more here.
ruppy is a beagle that glows red under ultra-violet light. no UV light and he looks like your average beagle. breeders/scientists spliced ruppy’s genes with that of a sea anemone. is this totally creepy or totally awesome? i can’t decide…

oh dockers, you sure know how to sell khakis. this should only get you….in a sh*t ton of trouble.
phoenix playing lizstomania and one time too many while riding a double-decker bus in paris. love this band and love this video…
Saw this dude today, buying coffee. I mean, he was buying coffee. I would have had coffee but I was meeting some people and then we were going somewhere else instead, but there was a mini-freak out on someone else’s part (not mine. I’m too cool), which is totally understandable because for the ladies Ryan Gosling (Gos, as I call him) is some form of “really hot” and for the dudes he’s just a damn fine actor.
he’s in the f*cking notebook. he can do no wrong.
spider man 3 or the lost world: jurassic park?
for me, both of these films were epic letdowns. but i’m going with the lost world because i loved the first film, jurassic park, so much and i read both books in roughly two days. at 16 years old, i was so pumped for TLWJP, i wouldn’t even watch trailers or tv commercials for fear of spoiling it (even though i’d already devoured the novel). so the hype factor for TLWJP was just on another level. and my GOD was that movie terrible. what a mess!
when spidey 3 was released, i was a little more jaded and, sadly, prepared for it to suck. though the idea of bringing in venom was tantalizing, i still knew they couldn’t go 3-3 with that franchise.
either way, i’m excited for them to eventually remake TLWJP without velociraptor gymnastics.
